Valentine’s Day Post

Inhonor of that one day where five guys will give each other that one look while combing through a messy pile at Hallmark, here is my latest poem.  Enjoy!!!

That Day

How easily you forgot
March 29th
Middle of day.

An hour spent doing us
It was the best
I heard you say.

Then there was October 5th
Sands of Guyana
Where we laid.

Didn’t I show you my love?
Why is it now
That those thoughts fade?

So much done throughout the year
Yet on this day
You focus hard

Judging everything we are
All because I
Forwent a card.

Or a gift to show you what,
Is on display
Each day, each year.

I wouldn’t be by your side
If my whole heart
Did not hold ‘care.’

Remember June 29th
When I had said
You were the one.

There was love behind those words
And since that time,
Ive felt, I won.

Three hundred and sixty five,
Those are the days
My love should count.

Not by actions of one day,
When all my ‘love’
Was on discount.

And so it goes….

Sales on the book have kind of stalled, so I’m moving forward to focus more on my next project/novel (if you are reading this and haven’t bought a copy, what exactly are you waiting on?).  If I can stay away from my Xbox long enough that is.  In any case, it seems I can’t go a day without writing a poem, so here are some of the latest entries I have to offer.  Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog, the more subscriptions I see the more I will get on here and share what goes on in this mind of mine.  Comments are also welcome!!!

Means to End

Bringing to light how we feel
From the dark pits
Of our souls

Can cause problems to arise
Unsolvable
Within our roles

Boundaries have kept us sane
Made us obey
Unspoken rules

But what happens when lines blur
Make us react
Both like fools

Living life without a care
Making choices
With no regard

Other concerns go ignored
Cast to the side
Total discard

To see you move on from us
Both to prevent
And to ensure

I understand your choices
But I admit
The want, grows more.

The concern of those around
Made you reflect
And reassess

Whether what we share is right
Last thing I want
Is your distress.

So if what we have must go
Just to maintain
What you hold dear.

Look inside to see the truth
Don’t be afraid
Of what’s in there.

Inside and Out

I Love You are those words
Easier said
Than trying to mean.

Three words carrying weight
Unbridled strength
Both far and between.

Many look to others
Expecting them
To fill up a void.

Never using those words
Upon themselves
Instead they avoid.

Life will not give you more
Moments of bliss
Than what you allow.

The heights of love received
Limited by
The love you endow.

True love starts with yourself
Nothing means more
Than making that real.

How else will you spot love
When it’s given
So far from ideal.

Chances are part of life
Rightfully so
In all choices made.

Don’t chance that love will come
Ignoring it
Will cause it to fade.

Feeling Loss

Took for granted, times we had
Thought our days would go on.

Never thought we’d see the end,
Still felt we were at the dawn.

But now the day has appeared.
You’re truly, no longer here.

No more sounds of your young voice.
No more pleads to comb your hair.

Why were you taken away?
While monsters are free to live.

So much promise lied in you.
So much more you had to give.

Now my life has to move on.
With memories, in my mind.

No new stories can be made.
We can’t share the daily grind.

Feeling lost without your stare.
Or the words you’d offer me.

Through this pain I’m at a loss.
No idea how else to be.

Only wish I had the chance
One more time, for me to say.

All the words I never spoke,
Hope you knew them anyway.
