Shifty Attitude

Some days I just feel lazy, living life without a care,
No concern for what is near me, or what lurks over there.
Many problems at my door, on either side of the frame,
Causing angst within my soul; my temper’s hard to contain.
Just want to lie in a bed, stare at nothing for a while,
Never knew the wealth I had, living daily as a child.
Don’t want to leave these four walls, too much pressure is outside,
I’d miss the sun, and the rain, tuck in my tail and just hide.
But the time to have these thoughts, have past by ages ago,
For adulthood has its joys, this I should already know.
Was not set to be the man, to be the one looked up to,
But it’s a task for us all, a transition we must do.
Can’t succumb to this feeling, must combat it in any way,
So much weighs on this battle, that is fought every day.
